ABOUT
OUR MISSION
Women in Aviation Tampa Bay Chapter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and advancing women in aviation and aerospace. We foster a supportive community through networking, educational opportunities, and community outreach while promoting aviation careers for women and girls of all ages. Through chapter meetings, events, mentorship, and signature programs such as Girls in Aviation Day, we strive to break down barriers, promote gender equality, and inspire the next generation of aviation leaders.
OUR VISION
Our vision is an inclusive and diverse aviation industry where women are equally represented, supported, and celebrated in every career field and level of aviation. Women in Aviation Tampa Bay Chapter envisions a future where access to opportunity, mentorship, and education empowers women and girls to pursue their passion for aviation with confidence—creating a lasting legacy of leadership, innovation, and inspiration in the skies and beyond.
YOUR LOCAL CHAPTER
We are the Tampa Bay Chapter for Women in Aviation International, to take advantage of local educational seminars, volunteer opportunities, mentorship programs, scholarships, networking events, and social gatherings designed to support women in aviation.

OUR HISTORY
The concept for the Women in Aviation Tampa Bay Chapter was born in April 2014 when aviation enthusiasts, Angye Fox and Daniel Funk, attended the Sun 'n Fun event in Lakeland. While exploring the many tables of vendors and sponsors they stopped at the Women in Aviation International table where they met Audra Hoy who was then the WAI Chapter Coordinator. Audra said, "Hey, we don't have a chapter in the Tampa Bay area. Would the two of you consider starting one?" So they did! Our first official meeting was on June 3, 2014 at the Jet Center which is now Sheltair. From attendees of the first meeting, Daniel Funk, Aleta Vinas, and Angye Fox are still Chapter members to this day.
